ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE:

  • Co- supervisor of the Aerospace Vehicle Design course at Cranfield University, U.K., (recognized teacher status) 
  • Professor at KAU.
  • Currently teaching four courses at the university, namely Aircraft Design, Airline Fleet Planning, aircraft materials, and Introduction to Engineering Design.
  • Establish the first UAV lab in King Abdul Aziz University
  • Design, build, and fly test the first UAV at King Abdul Aziz University
  • ABET scholar, participating in the ABET Institute for the Development of Excellence in Assessment Leadership, 2013     

 

INDUSTRIAL EXPERIENCE:

  • Team leader and project manager of the Solar UAV project with Tokai University (Japan), 14 faculty members from both Tokai university (Japan) and king Abdulaziz University and about 32 students and engineers from both Universities where involved.  

 

  • Training experience while working in four engineering departments of Saudi Arabian Airlines.  These included the departments of Aircraft Reliability Engineering, Aircraft Reliability Program, Aircraft Development Engineering, and Technical Operation Engineering. During training in these departments, important engineering practices, has been learned including failure diagnosis (1994-1995).

 

  • Accumulated good working knowledge of advanced computer applications, particularly simulation packages such as “NASTRAN”. Using finite element methods he has worked in static, dynamic and damage tolerance analyses. 

 

  • Opportunity to work at Aerotech Engineering and Research Corporation Kansas (USA) as research and development engineer mainly in the area of 1: Composites design, and manufacturing, 2: Ultrasonic motors design and patents, and 3: Research in aerospace applications. (1998-1999)

 

 

  • Member of the Kansas Universities Design Team that worked on the UAV project “Aladdin.”  The team comprised members from four Kansas universities.  Aladdin won a national general aviation competition sponsored by NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the U.S. Air-force Research Laboratory in 1999.

 

  • Specialized in airline fleet planning, aircraft design, and unmanned air-vehicles.
